ABOUT CATHERINE
Creating a connection is core to my approach to counseling. I work from a multitude of theoretical frameworks including person-centered, positive psychology, cognitive behavioral, family systems, and solution focused. Much of my experience has been helping individuals and families find balance in their lives and re-focus their energies on values important to them.
Oftentimes we find ourselves overwhelmed, and we're not quite sure why. Sometimes we wish for more, yet it never seems to be enough. I'd like to support you in giving yourself permission to unload what you're bearing and join you on your journey to a better tomorrow.
I work with children beginning at age 12 and adults of all ages from Gen Z to Baby Boomers. My specialties include couples, families, aspirational entrepreneurs, and busy working professionals.
I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Minor in Business Administration. I received a Master’s of Science degree in School Counseling with a special concentration in Community Mental Health from Mercer University. I have had experience in a variety of settings including public and private schools, a nonprofit youth organization, a family counseling agency, and private practice.
I come from a blended family with two older brothers and four younger stepsisters. Counseling was extremely beneficial for me as I adjusted to my changing family. I have spent much of my life listening to others, accepting them for who they are, and joining them on their journeys. Becoming a therapist myself became a natural pathway for me to continue my own journey.
I am a mother to two boys who love to keep me on my toes. I enjoy hiking in the mountains, reading, traveling to new places, satisfying my perfectionism with an efficiently packed car, watching the same movies over and over, camping, and being immediately gratified by online shopping.
ABOUT LACEY
I believe in an eclectic approach to therapy. Everyone’s life experience is unique, and that uniqueness deserves individualized attention. I feel it’s necessary to use a variety of techniques and perspectives depending on what fits best with an individual client. I feel the most important element in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. I connect with Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Relational Theory, Emotion Focused Therapy, and The Gottman Method. People are always in movement, and growth is always possible.
My life has been defined by full and diverse experiences. I have a Bachelor of the Arts in Performance Studies, and I have performed as a storyteller at multiple international festivals. I went on to manage music and events, making my way into project management and communications. I have worked in private, non-profit, and government sectors. These moments in my life have equipped me with a unique understanding that I bring to the counseling process, such as rewriting your own story and taking ownership of your life. I have a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and my training allows me to employ a variety of techniques and methods to assist people on their journey. I have a background as an artist and have dedicated most of my life to understanding the human experience.
I work with individuals, couples, adolescents (14 and up), and groups. I have experience with anxiety, depression, life-transitions, grief, trauma, and I am sex-positive. My own personal counseling experiences have allowed me to work through life’s journey. Connection, finding purpose, and identity work are often at the heart of my approach.
I read before bed, and I paint in my free time. I am a mother of five, so I understand the value of “free time” being ritualistic and cherished. I enjoy the magnanimous community of live music and reflective solitude of quiet spaces.
